Community Resources for Children
Early Childhood Specialist

16 hours per week
Salary Range: $12-$15.50 hour

The Early Childhood Specialist works directly with children, parents and child care providers and is responsible for the planning and implementation of activities that foster early learning. The ECE Specialist is responsible for the operation of the Toy Library & Early Learning Center. Work is performed under defined and uniform procedures.

Requirements and Qualifications:

1. AA Degree in Early Childhood Education/Child Family Studies preferred
2. Minimum of 1 year working with children and families
3. Good written and verbal communication skills

Reception/Intake Clerk

Employment Classification:  Part-Time, M-Th

Hourly rate: $12-$14/hour-depending upon experience.

Agency Overview: St. Helena Family Center (SHFC) located at 1440 Spring Street, St. Helena, provides extended support for community members much like a traditional extended family. We connect community members to the information support, guidance and services they need to enhance and enrich their lives. Special interest is placed on serving children and teens, the senior population and the Latino community, but the Center is available to all community members-young and old, rich and poor, family and singles. The Center is an agent for self-improvement as well as a hub for community building.

Job Overview: The goal of this position involves personally attending to walk-in clients and incoming calls. It also includes data input in computer software.

Reports To: St. Helena Family Center Operations and Site Manager

Description of activities:

Office/Facilities Duties:

  1. Be the welcoming face for walk-in clients and telephone inquiries.
  2. Answer/transfer incoming telephone calls, greet clients, process incoming/outgoing mail/ packages.
  3. Provide assistance making client appointments; route calls as appropriate and provide information to clients as needed.
  4. Update the office calendar, web calendar and bulletin for events and meetings.
  5.  Maintain the immaculate appearance and cleanliness of the office.
  6. Re-stock office & kitchen supplies.
  7.  Operate basic office equipment; computer, fax, phone and copier.
  8.  Make arrangements for office events and meetings.
  9.  Perform errands – purchase supplies, retrieve items from an off-site storage facility (must have a valid driver’s license).
  10. Walk-in payments and deposits for the day.

Clerical Duties:

  1. Create electronic copies and file hard copies of documents.
  2. Make occasional travel arrangements, arrange conference calls .
  3.  Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  4.  Ensure that necessary resources for day-to-day operations are readily available by ordering supplies within the budget allocated and ensuring office equipment is properly used and maintained; maintain up-to-date vendor contact list.
  5. Enter demographic data and contact information into database.

Desired Skills, Attributes and Experience:

Education: College education and/or equivalent work experience preferred.

Language skills: Bilingual English-Spanish. REQUIRED

People skills:   Impeccable verbal and written communication skills, excellent people skills.  Diplomatic, tactful, courteous and friendly.

Computer skills: Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and data base software. Desire and ability to learn new software programs.

Other skills: Independent, able to solve problems and set priorities in a multi-tasking environment.  Well-organized, detail-oriented, pro-active, creative, self-driven and punctual.

Area Agency on Aging Serving Napa and Solano (AAA)
Multiple Positions

Case Manager

The AAA has a job opportunity for a full time Case Manager. This position is in a new mental health program, providing prevention and early intervention services for older adults in Solano County. We are looking for candidates with initiative and good communication skills who appreciate the value of non-profits, diversity, and supporting the underserved populations in Solano County.

We are looking for candidates with at least a Bachelor's degree in Social Worker or related field and experience in a health or social service specialty. Case Management experience and knowledge of community resources for elderly and disabled adults in Solano County preferred. Bilingual English/Spanish highly desirable.

The Case Managers work across multiple service sectors, have a clinical understanding of both cognitive impairment and mental illness, and a depth of knowledge about available and appropriate services. The duties will include:
· Conduct basic screening of referred clients to screen for isolation, anxiety, depression, medication management, and other selected indicators.
· Refer clients to appropriate local mental health services primary care providers and non-traditional preventive programs.
· Assist clients and family members with completion of paperwork related to service access.
· Conduct Assessment and initiate case management services for clients, including written care plans, identification and/or development of support systems and follow up monitoring.

Planned Parenthood: Shasta-Diablo (PPSD) provides over 100,000 individuals with health care and education services at more than 30 sites throughout 13 Northern California counties. We reach people through our health care services, education programs, and advocacy initiatives.

PPSD provides high-quality, affordable health care for women, men, and teens. Our experienced and caring medical staff gives each client honest information and personal attention. We provide a range of reproductive and general health services including birth control, abortion, prenatal care, pregnancy testing, STD screening and treatment, sterilization and counseling.

PPSD has one of the most esteemed Community Services and Education Programs in the country which provides comprehensive, responsible, age appropriate sexuality education and case management services to approximately 30,000 youth, teens, parents and adults annually. Our trained health educators and case managers design presentations, programs, and services which utilize the resources of the entire organization and are tailored to the diverse needs of the communities they serve.

With its robust advocacy programs, PPSD:

· Helps ensure all teens and families have access to medically accurate sex education;

· Secures public funding to subsidize family planning for those clients without funds to access services;

· Works to ensure that decisions about childbearing are made by a woman, in consultation with her family, her doctor, and her conscience, not the government or politicians.

PPSD is currently seeking a full-time Development Manager, Institutional Gifts Manager to manage and operate the agency’s grantsmanship program. The Development Manager reports to the Vice President for Development and is an integral part of the Development team.

This is an exempt, full-time position, working 40 hours per week, with flexible hours and occasional telecommuting. Salary is DOE.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

The individual in this position will identify and research foundation and corporate funding prospects, work with program directors to develop and write competitive grant proposals, prepare all necessary budgets and attachments, and prepare all reports to funding agencies. This individual maintains accurate tracking systems for reports and proposals due, and provides regular reports and updates to the Vice President for Development and other senior staff. Additional duties may include managing proposal submission to selected government agencies, contributing to Planned Parenthood’s newsletters, annual report, and preparing text for fundraising materials.

· Develops and implements a comprehensive strategy for increasing grant revenue to the agency.

· Actively seeks new sources of funding and works to renew existing sources of support.

· Provides appropriate stewardship to funding agencies.

· Monitors and reports on all grants received, proposals pending and new prospects.

· Works closely with program staff on the development of new proposals.

· Contributes language to development-related materials, such as brochures, annual reports and newsletters.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

· A minimum of three years successful, results-oriented experience in research and proposal writing, preferably for a healthcare organization, or equivalent.

· Superior writing and editing skills.

· Ability to communicate well with staff, volunteers, and foundation program officers.

· Ability to work with program staff to develop a concept into a concrete proposal for funding, including a clear statement of need, program goals and outcomes, evaluation methods, and budgets.

· Ability to handle multiple priorities and tight deadlines with professionalism and grace.

· Ability to work well in a team environment.

· Good humor and a willingness to deal with and be challenged by controversy.

· Strong commitment to excellent customer service.

· Knowledge of Blackbaud Raisers’ Edge preferred.

· Must have reliable automobile transportation and a valid California Driver's License and insurance.

· Commitment to quality healthcare.
